West Ham United suffered another humiliating loss in the Premier League this weekend. Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur scored three second half goals against the Hammers to leave them 18th in the table.

The London based club have only won once this season, a 3-0 victory over Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest, in what would ultimately turn out to be his last game.

Graham Potter’s side have shipped 14 goals in just five games and been knocked out of the EFL Cup by fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With pressure now growing on Graham Potter it appears inevitable that a decision will be made on his future in the coming weeks.

The club had been linked heavily to Frank Lampard and Jose Mourinho but with a new manager now available it could change their plans.

West Ham United Target Former Nottingham Forest Manager Who Was Sacked After Hammers Defeat

As previously mentioned, Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked by Nottingham Forest following a 3-0 defeat to Graham Potter’s West Ham. But now, rather ironically, he could be the man to replace the former Chelsea boss at the helm.

The out of work boss is reportedly the favourite for the role, after his success with Forest last season. However, his personal demands including having a say in transfers and his backroom staff could be a sticking point.

That being said, Nuno does have clear evidence of being able to turn around a struggling club and push them up the table so it may be worth listening to his requests.

Can Nuno Espirito Santo Turn Around the Hammer’s Premier League Season?

Nuno is one of three managers heavily linked. Jose Mourinho was one of the most recent on the list, but despite his blockbuster status, his style of football would be jarring to the players bought for Graham Potter’s system.

Lampard, despite having a connection to the club would also be a risk. His previous spells in the Premier League did not yield the results he would have hoped for. However, he is performing well at Championship level for Coventry City.

That leaves Nuno, another manager who could be somewhat jarring for the players. His success with Nottingham Forest has come with caveats, that the style of play isn’t exactly beautiful. He is a manager that focuses on results rather than style of football, unlike the man he could be replacing. It is a risk, to bring him in post transfer window.

But West Ham do have players that could fill those roles. He would certainly, like Jose tighten up their defence, but there are question marks as to how well they can transition against the top teams who will smother any potential out ball.

But one of West Ham’s biggest issues right now if keeping the ball out of their own net, and a manager who can do that is one step closer to turning the club around.
