Norwich City forward Adam Idah is currently enjoying an explosive loan spell in Scotland, but what does the future hold for him?
In his current loan spell with Scottish Champions Celtic, Idah has scored five goals and recorded an assist in his first six games for the Glasgow giants. Compared to his first-half spell at Norwich which saw him net six goals and record one assist in 28 games.
Some would say that the main reason for Idah’s success is that his opposition isn’t as strong as those he would face in the Championship. Others, like myself, would claim that the main reason for his success is that he is receiving the service he needs and requires to show off his ability and his presence in front of goal.
No matter what you think, it is safe to say that Idah is finding his form in this Celtic side and is finally showing the world that he can be a main striker for many teams and hopefully many years to come.
The main question, however, is where will he be playing his football next season.
Norwich currently sit seventh in the Championship, three points off the play-off places. Celtic currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership only two points off the leaders Rangers.
If Norwich is successful in their push for promotion, Idah may find it very difficult to make it back into the team with Norwich more than likely making the loan signing of Sydney Van Hooijdonk a permanent signing, or they may look elsewhere in the market and look for Premier League ready strikers.
If this is to be the case, Adam may find himself staying at Celtic permanently, with him being open about the idea of staying in Glasgow long term. However, if Norwich are unsuccessful in their attempt to reach the promised land, Idah could see himself back in the yellow and green next season with Norwich deciding against making Sydney a permanent signing.
The best option for Idah (in my opinion) would be to stay at Celtic permanently if the deal is agreed between the clubs. Idah is finally finding his form in Glasgow and may feel as though he needs to stay there to boost his confidence and find the potential he knows he can reach.
He is unlikely to find this at Norwich due to the amount of youth Norwich is likely to promote to the first team next season. Ken Aboh is shining for Norwich U21s, scoring 15 goals and recording one assist in the Premier League 2.
Another potential striker is Abu Kamara, currently on loan at Portsmouth, who is a fan favourite with the Norwich City fans and one many fans want to see be a part of the first team next season.
Thebefore, with the competition he could face next season at Norwich and the potential for Norwich to get promoted next season, the best career choice for Idah would be to stay at Celtic and build on this incredible form he is finding in Scotland and hopefully grow into the star he knows he can become.
