Window Open for Liverpool to Secure World Class Free Transfer

One transfer target for Liverpool has seen the club boosted by recent news surrounding the player’s future and his potential suitors, one of whom is believed to have dropped out of the race.

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has long been the subject of speculation, with his contract at the Allianz Arena ending next summer.

Such news has put plenty on alert, with Liverpool and some of their rivals, including Arsenal, eyeing up a move for the German international when his contract ends. Alongside their domestic rivals, the Reds were joined by French giants Paris Saint-Germain in an interest in the midfielder, but Arne Slot’s side have now been boosted by recent news from the French capital.

Paris Saint-Germain no longer hold an interest in Kimmich?

Luis Enrique may have seen his side suffer a loss when French superstar Kylian Mbappe left for Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, possibly one of the biggest losing factors in the scenario for the club. Still, it has not left the club short of firepower, scoring 17 goals in their five wins this season. However, they have set one worrying statistic recently, after WhoScored revealed that the Parisian side have missed the most big chances (level with Barcelona) this season across the top five leagues in Europe.

Despite being named as a club interested in the Bayern Munich man recently, Caught Offside have revealed that the club are now satisfied with the options they currently hold in midfield after they signed Joao Neves from Portuguese side Benfica. That news has now left the door open for one of the Premier League clubs interested in the midfielder to complete what could only be considered a blockbuster of a free transfer.

Liverpool or Arsenal? Both could still miss out.

The two Premier League giants were claimed to have been monitoring the situation of Kimmich once news broke of his contract situation in Munich. That does not mean that he is guaranteed to join either side next summer, given that all parties are said to be interested in extending his stay at the Allianz, where he has spent much of his career.

Both English clubs were assessing midfield options over the summer and were involved in dramatic transfer sagas that ended differently for them. Liverpool spent much of the summer chasing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who eventually opted to stay in Spain. Meanwhile, the Gunners were chasing Zubimendi’s teammate, Mikel Merino, with Arteta’s side securing a deal for the Euro 2024 winner.

Arsenal will still be looking at their squad depth following injuries recently showing them just how easy it is to be left short, while Liverpool still have gaps in their midfield after not signing a midfielder in the window, which has not phased the Reds in their start to the season.
