Championship sides Ipswich and Millwall have recalled players Zak Bradshaw and Nana Boateng, after half-season loan spells at Woking, as confirmed via a social media post from the club.

Nana Boateng, who joined the side in July last year, is a young, 21-year-old, pacey winger who ended up playing 8 games for the Cards, picking up 2 assists, before breaking his foot, sidelining him until “at least the new year”, according to former manager Darren Sarll, so he should be back relatively soon, ready to go back out on loan elsewhere.

This was also only Nana’s first season in professional football, as he’s only ever played for the Millwall youth academy prior to this season. Bradshaw joined the side in late August, and ended up scoring just hours after becoming a Woking player, the 3rd goal in a 3-1 victory away at Gateshead to seal all 3 points.

He also picked up an assist in his time at the club, making 20 appearances in total. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder picked up an injury a while ago but was never able to get fully back into the side after his recovery.

Nana Boateng and Zak Bradshaw have helped guide the Cards to 20th place in the National League table, and have picked up just four wins in 22 matches, with the worst home form in the whole Vanarama (National League North and South included), a significant falloff from last season.

Although Nana and Zak are departing the club, Woking will hope they have what it takes to survive relegation, and maybe even push up the National League table to a Midtable, or even to-half position.

Writer’s View:

I’m disappointed about both of these departures. On their days, both absolutely phenomenal players, and ones that helped us massively. Boateng made a real impact when he played, one of the fastest players I’ve seen in a Woking shirt for some time.

As for Bradshaw, he just about sums up the term “Rolls Royce Midfielder”, some fantastic skills the 20-year-old has, and a great blocker of the defensive, he’s also very versatile, happy to push up the pitch into an attacking role, or even play as a centre back.

I’d expect to see these players back on loan in the National League very soon, or maybe even higher.
