Woking Make Significant Managerial Decision

Woking have parted ways with manager Darren Sarll following a disappointing run of form in the National League, according to a statement on the club’s website.

The 40-year-old has been in charge of the football club since March 2022 and took the side into the National League play-off places last season against all odds but now his time at the club is over.

Woking finished fourth last season but after 19 league matches, they find themselves in the bottom half as well as being knocked out of this season’s FA Cup after a shock defeat against Ramsgate.

The side sit just four points above the relegation zone as clubs approach the halfway point of the National League season but had won just one of their last five league matches, including defeats against Dagenham & Redbridge as well as Saturday’s loss to Oxford City despite Padraig Amond’s best efforts.

Sarll arrived at the club in March 2022 after making the switch from Yeovil Town in a move that stunned National League supporters at the time. He’s taken charge of 75 matches during his spell with the club, winning 33 and averaging a total of 1.52 points per game (according to TransferMarkt).

However, after almost 600 days in charge of the football club, his time has come to a disappointing end and work will now begin for the National League side to find a replacement and boost themselves back into playoff contention after a tough start to the campaign.

Writer’s View

Sarll has worked wonders at Woking so far in his career but this season has proven to be a difficult one for the club so far which has unfortunately led to the manager’s dismissal.

Fans were reportedly extremely frustrated with the defeat against Oxford City and given their disappointed FA Cup exit, the writing was almost on the wall unfortunately.
