Championship side Wrexham are ready to delve into the transfer market this summer after winning promotion from League One. Two targets have been revealed to be from Reading and SPFL side Rangers.
The Welsh side achieved a remarkable feat, earning back-to-back-to-back promotions to go from the National League to the Championship. Whilst they have kept some of their players that helped them out of non-league, the squad has rapidly changed over the years as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney pour money into the side to ensure they can compete.
Steven Fletcher is the latest to leave the club, with his departure confirmed in the club’s retained list.
But now attention turns to the 2025/26 season and Phil Parkinson is keen to move quickly.
Reading and Rangers Men Targets for Wrexham
Wrexham have reportedly turned their attention to Reading’s Charlie Savage and Rangers’ Tom Lawrence this summer, having previously been linked with Tom Cairney and Lewis O’Brien.
Savage is one of only six names kept on in the first team squad as the Royals struggled to keep their side together with ownership difficulties. However, now with the Rob Couhig takeover completed there will likely be a period of change as he looks to turn the club around.
The 22-year-old has been with the club since departing Manchester United in 2023, solidifying himself as one of the best up-and-coming talents in League One. He has amde 96 appearances, scoring 12 goals and contributing 15 assists from central midfield as well as earning two caps for the Welsh National Team.
Lawrence on the other hand is set to become a free agent shortly after three years with Rangers. The 31-year-old also has Derby County, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, Cardiff City, Yeovil Town, Rotherham United and Manchester United on his CV. He has also appeared 23 times for the Welsh National Team and boasts close to 400 career appearances.
The pair, according to Wrexham Insider are both potential targets for the club this summer.
