Wrexham Join League One Club In Race For Championship Striker

Hollywood-owned, Wrexham AFC, are plotting an ambitious permanent swoop for West Bromwich Albion striker, Mo Faal, who is also of interest to Barnsley.

Faal spent last season on loan in League Two with separate spells at Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, netting thirteen goals across the campaign.

Barnsley are Wrexham’s competition in the race for Faal

Alan Nixon (paywall) revealed just a matter of days ago that League One side, Barnsley, were keen on signing Mo Faal with the forward a potential makeweight in a deal between West Brom and Barnsley for Callum Styles.

A deal is far from done though with Darrell Clarke’s side said to be unsatisfied with the cash sum offered on top of the swap deal of Faal and Styles.

Styles has failed to feature in any of Barnsley’s opening games of the season so far with the 24-year-old believed to be eyeing a move to the Championship following a trip to the EURO’s with Hungary in the summer.

Wrexham are keen to sign Faal permanently

Despite an expectation that Faal may be set for another loan move; after impressing on loan last season with both Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, Wrexham are eyeing an ambitious permanent transfer for the 21-year-old.

The report comes from @TalkWBA on X who claim that Wrexham are now alongside Barnsley in the race to sign Mo Faal on a permanent deal this summer as the Welsh side bid to continue their rapid rise throughout the football leagues.

Wrexham have currently made do without star striker turned Deadpool actor, Paul Mullin, who underwent surgery to relieve what was described as chronic back pain by TalkSport although the 29-year-old is close to returning with manager, Phil Parkinson, revealing:

“His injury is absolutely fine, there are no problems with that at all. It is just getting him fit now and getting some more training in him combined with some fitness work. He’s having his mini pre-season now but each day he is progressing so we are pleased with that”. (GOAL)

Parkinson recently spoke out on his club potentially adding to the seven signings that they have already made this summer, explaining to BBC Sport, “In terms of incomings we’ll just have to wait and see”.

West Brom could still loan the striker this summer

TalkWBA did caveat the report of Faal attracting permanent interest by stating that if the Baggies didn’t agree the transfer of Mo Faal to one of Barnsley of Wrexham, the 21-year-old is expected to remain a West Brom player and depart on another loan deal this season.

Faal shone on two loans last season with both Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, netting thirteen goals across forty-five league appearances for both of the League Two sides last season.

The West Brom academy product has already been on target for Carlos Corberan’s side this season, netting in his first start of the season against Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup.
