Large player turnover has often been the case for Wrexham under Ryan Reynolds’ stewardship. It is likely to be a similar story in the coming winter window, with one of their high-profile summer acquisitions looking set to depart the North Welsh side.
Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore have an excellent strike partnership for the Red Dragons this season, while Nathan Broadhead has shown glimpses of quality.
However, the likes of Sam Smith and Ryan Hardie are struggling for regular gametime. Furthermore, according to reports from Football League World, the latter could be set for a January exit.
Hardie is a prolific forward in the Championship, proving to be a regular talisman for Plymouth Argyle over the years. However, his reported £700,000 move to Wrexham in the summer has been difficult for the striker.
Limited to only five Championship appearances, the Scotsman’s only goal for Wrexham came in a League Cup victory away at Preston North End.
Ryan Hardie Set to Depart Wrexham
While no clubs are specifically linked with a move for the striker’s services, he should not be short of suitors.
Hardie has returned double digits in his last four seasons for Plymouth Argyle and would undoubtedly be an astute addition for clubs at the lower end of the Championship.
The Scotsman will likely be disappointed with how his Wrexham move has panned out. Success at Wrexham could have potentially placed him in the Scotland squad. However, with the UK nation now preparing for a World Cup campaign, those dreams are likely postponed.
Hardie is a more than reliable goalscorer at Championship level, and should be eyeing consistent gametime in his next move.
Returning to Devon with Plymouth Argyle would be unlikely, given the Pilgrims’ league position. However, Hardie’s services and gametime requirements could befit moves to the likes of Portsmouth, Luton Town, and Norwich City.
Several futures remain up in the air at Wrexham. Once iconic strike partnership Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer are currently out on loan, while Jay Rodriguez may struggle to feature upon his return from injury.
