Wycombe Wanderers Rival Luton Town For £1 Million Rated Championship Star

Wycombe Wanderers are facing a nine-way showdown to sign Bailey Cadamarteri this January after the price to sign the Sheffield Wednesday man was revealed.

Amid the Owls’ financial struggles, many key stars have been linked with moves away this window, including Barry Bannan, who is heavily rumoured to move to Millwall, according to Alan Nixon.

However, they could raise a lot more funds through the sale of Cadamarteri, with the forward in hot demand across the EFL.

Wycombe Learn Price

According to the Sheffield Star, nine English sides are interested in a deal for the Jamaican international, with Millwall leading the charge as it stands.

In League One, three clubs are in the mix to sign the former Lincoln City man, with Wycombe Wanderers joined by Luton Town and Mansfield Town but may be stifled by Wednesday’s valuation, which may need clubs to offer up to £1 million to sign the 20-year-old.

So far this season, the Owls’ number 18 has played 26 games in the second tier this season, having scored twice in a taxing season both on and off the pitch in S6.

Cadamarteri’s contract at Hillsborough expires in June of 2028, but with financial pressure weighing down on the club, Henrik Pedersen may be forced into selling key stars ahead of the confirmation of their takeover.

The Danish manager has spoken about not wanting to sell any key players this January but is also at risk of losing Yisa Alao, who is being pursued by Liverpool and Manchester United this January.

Millwall, who are believed to be in active pursuit of the former England youth star, are targeting a double deal alongside Owls club captain Barry Bannan, but are rivalled for Cadamarteri by Swansea City, Stoke City, Charlton Athletic and Blackburn Rovers within the Championship.

Do League One Sides Have A Chance?

With such a large field pursuing Bailey Cadamarteri, the League One sides may struggle to conjure up the money to match Sheffield Wednesday’s valuation for their star forward.

Even if they manage to reach that fee, they will then have to convince the player’s camp that they are the right destination over some Championship sides, including a team like Blackburn Rovers who are in need of a new striker following the sale of Makhtar Gueye.

Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town can certainly make good cases as to why they are the right place to join, especially the Kenilworth Road side given their chances of promotion and their struggles to find a consistent goalscorer.

However, with his place in the Jamaican national team likely secured going forward, dropping down into League One may cost him his place, so sticking in the Championship is a more likely course.
