Barnsley Forward Completes League Two Switch

Barnsley forward Andy Dallas has completed a move to League Two side Barrow for the duration of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 24-year-old spent the duration of the previous campaign out on loan in both the SPFL and the National League, but will now link up with Barrow ahead of the upcoming League Two season.

How did Dallas fare last season?

Upon signing for the League One outfit, Dallas scored on his debut for the club during a 7-0 thrashing of Port Vale and made four further appearances before being loaned out to SPFL side Kilmarnock.

Back in his native Scotland, Dallas made a total of 15 appearances for the football club but didn’t manage to contribute to a goal although he only made two starts.

Upon being recalled in January, the forward signed for National League side Oldham Athletic, where he made 14 further appearances but again was mainly featured as a substitute.

What can Dallas bring to Barrow?

Despite his lack of starts last season, Dallas’ 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns prove he is a reliable goalscorer and can lead the line well when required.

He managed 34 goals in 83 outings for Solihull Moors, helping the club to reach the National League play-off final, whilst also netting seven goals in 14 appearances at Chesterfield.

Dallas has EFL experience with the likes of Cambridge United and brings additional versatility to his game, being able to operate as a striker or as a left winger if required.

Is this a good move for Dallas?

The opportunity to feature regularly for a side that narrowly missed out on a play-off place last season is certainly an exciting opportunity for any player this summer.

Although Barrow are no longer managed by Pete Wild, the club have already begun their plans to go a step further next season.

Unlike his previous two loan spells, Dallas will likely gain the opportunity to earn regular first-team minutes in League Two and will have the chance to prove any doubters wrong.
