Star Wars Prequels Star To Return In New Special As Fan Theory Comes True

Star Wars prequel star Ahmed Best is set to reprise his role as Jar Jar Binx in the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy releasing on the 13th September 2024 as part of a four part animated special, playing a Sith version of the character ‘Darth Jar Jar’.

The character, first introduced in Star Wars The Phantom Menace in 1999, divided the fan base, with the clumsy Gungan often being cited as one of the most hated characters in the franchise’s history. 

Actor Ahmed Best has spoken about his trouble coming to terms with the backlash that emerged from Episode One. However, he has been on somewhat of a redemption arch appearing in the Disney+ Series The Mandalorian, as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq during ‘Order 66‘ rescuing fan favourite character Grogu from the Clones. 

The character Jar Jar Binx even received an in-canon update to his story in the novel Aftermath: Empire’s End by Chuck Wendig, after his storyline had been left in the air following the conclusion of the prequel trilogy. 

“Bring the clown. We want to see the clown. We like it how he juggles glombo shells, or spits fish up in the air and catches them, or how he dances around and falls on his butt.” 

“And the clown acquiesces, happy to find any form of acceptance. “The adults, though,” continues the narrator, “they don’t say much about him. Or to him. And no other Gungans come to see him, either. Nobody even says his name.”

Why Darth Jar Jar In The Upcoming LEGO Star Wars??

A popular theory emerged in the Star Wars fan base, that Jar Jar couldn’t have been that clumsy and remain that integral to the Republic without having some sinister intentions. The character was seen calling for the motion to grant emergency powers to Palpatine and was a key figure in the creation of the Galactic Empire. This led some to believe that Jar Jar must have been a secret Sith Lord, which gave birth to Darth Jar Jar. Now for the first time in official media, the character is appearing with Best reprising his role for a darker version.
