Lincoln City have reportedly seen their bid for Cheltenham Town striker Rob Street accepted as they move closer to securing their new man.

The Imps have been long term admirers of the 22-year-old former Shrewsbury Town man. Now, according to reports a deal to bring the striker to Sincil Bank is edging closer.

Street has been at Cheltenham since July 2023, moving from Crystal Palace on a permanent deal. He went on to make 26 appearances, scoring three goals as he was unable to halt his side’s relegation.

He has previously had spells with Shrewsbury Town, Newport County and Torquay United on loan from the Eagles.

The forward comes in to an already stacked Lincoln City striking department that boasts the likes of former Coventry City man Tyler Walker, Ben House, Freddie Draper and Jovon Makama. However, the club’s golden boot winner last season Joe Taylor returned to his parent club Luton Town at the end of the season, and admitted recently in his interview that he is aiming to impress in the Championship.

According to Jon Palmer, the Imps are closing on a deal for the former Palace man.

What will Rob Street bring to Lincoln?

Street, unlike Taylor has not been a prolific goal scorer to date. His attributes lie closer to soon-to-be teammate Ben House. He presses the opposition defenders well and forces them into mistakes, creating turnovers of play as well as creating space for his teammates.

Last season Tyler Walker was ruled out for the majority of the season and Ben House also had a spell on the sidelines, Freddie Draper was on loan and Jovon Makama was just taking his first steps into the first team picture. At times the Imps were left with little attacking option, so to add more quality to the books, on a permanent deal will allow Michael Skubala to field plenty of options.
