Bradford City Man Makes League Two Switch

It has been a busy window for Bradford City, with another player departure confirmed to the division below.

The Bantams have had multiple incomings and outgoings this summer, as they embarked on their first season back in League One since 2019.

Bradford won automatic promotion from League Two last season, via a 96th-minute winner in the last game from Antoni Sarcevic.

Signings such as Stephen Humphrys, Max Power, and Ibou Touray have all arrived in BD8. Richie Smallwood and Jack Shepherd have been the most notable outgoings. The former left on a free transfer to League Two Tranmere Rovers. Whereas the latter returned to divisional rivals, Barnsley, following the conclusion of his loan.

Bradford City Man Makes Move To East Coast

Via a statement on the club’s website, Grimsby Town have signed Bradford City’s Clarke Odour on a season-long loan.

The versatile midfielder joins up with David Artell’s side just in time for Wednesday night’s mouth-watering fixture against Manchester United, where Ruben Amorim’s men travel to Blundell Park in a Carabao Cup second round tie.

Odour’s departure from Bradford City has been in the pipeline for some time now. The Kenyan international was yet to make a matchday squad this season, as the club looked to move him on.

He will add to an already impressive Mariners midfield, adding to the options of Evan Khouri, George McEachran, and Kieran Green.

Odour’s Career To Date

Odour came through the Leeds United academy before signing his first professional contract with the club in 2017. At 19 years of age, he made his professional debut in a third-round FA cup tie against QPR.

With minutes hard to come by at Elland Road, Odour made the short journey down the M1 to join newly promoted Championship side, Barnsley. The Kenyan international made 47 Championship appearances in South Yorkshire over three years.

In the summer of 2023, Odour moved back to West Yorkshire. This time, with League Two Bradford where the versatile player signed a three-year deal with the club.

After falling out of favour, Odour has joined up with David Artell and Grimsby Town for the 2025/2026 season. The Mariners have set their sights on promotion this season. They have started well, with three wins and two draws, leaving Grimsby outside of the automatic spots on goal difference.

Is This Move Good for All Parties?

David Artell is known for developing players.

After vastly improving Khouri and McEachran last season, Odour will be hoping for similar to happen to him this season. This makes it a wise decision for the 26-year-old to sign for the Mariners. Artell could be exactly what Odour needs to rediscover the form that made Championship Barnsley sign him six years ago.

Regarded strongly for his exceptional technical ability but criticised for his lack of end product, providing an excellent template for the right coach.

Additionally, Odour’s versatility makes him an attractive option for  Artell.

The Kenyan international is comfortable playing on either wing, in central midfield and at full back, this trait could assure minutes in Artell’s first team.

His experience and previous League Two promotion could be just what Grimsby need to get over the line this season and win promotion to League One.
