Burton Albion has announced the signing of Crawley Town Striker Danilo Orsi on a three-year deal.

The 28-year-old striker, played a vital role scoring 23 goals in League Two last season as The Red Devils, scoring their first goal in their play-off final victory. Danilo becomes Burton’s tenth signing of the summer transfer window.

Speaking to The Brewers media team, Orsi had this to say.

“I’m thrilled to be here, it’s a really exciting time for the club and I’m really looking forward to getting started, meeting the boys, and seeing what the future years hold.

“I love scoring goals, being in and around the box and getting on the end of things. I love to work hard for the team, running, pressing, high-energy, giving 110% every week, and just enjoying playing my football.”

Danilo also released a statement to the Crawley Town fans via his Instagram page, stating.

“I’m disappointed this group wasn’t given the chance to do it all again”

Who is Danilo Orsi?

In the early parts of his career, Danilo was hovering around nonleague in 2015 he was released by Cockfosters, before heading to the USA to play for Florida SC where he stayed for 2 years.

Upon returning to the UK, he played for East Thurrock and Hungerford for the 18/19 season, before heading to Hampton & Richmond, where he stayed for a season, where he scored 12 goals in 32 games.

The Striker then continued his rise up the footballing pyramid joining Maidenhead United, where stayed for the 20/21 season, before heading to Harrogate Town for the 21/22 season. During the January window, he was sent on loan to National League side Boreham Wood, scoring twice in 24 games.

Upon returning to Harrogate, the striker was again on the move this time to Grimsby Town, where he struggled for consistent gametime scoring four goals across 32 appearances where only five of these were starts.

He then joined Crawley Town, for the 23/24 season, playing a part in all but one league game.

A Blow for Crawley Town?

This is another huge blow for Crawley, they have already lost Will Wright, Adam Campbell and, Nick Tsaroulla from their promotion-winning squad and losing what was a goalscorer for them is another huge blow.

The recruitment team as well as Scott Lindsay worked wonders in the transfer market last season signing non-League talent and developing them. The fans will be hoping that Lindsay can work his magic again this summer and recruit not only goals but a desire to press from the front and make unselfish runs providing opportunities for his team mates.

Good Business From Burton?

Danilo firstly will add a different dynamic to the Burton front line, while he stands at 188cm he isn’t the best aerially, ranking in the 17% percentile for aerial duels won compared to other strikers in League Two last season. However, he is an extremely clever penalty box striker, with all of his goals coming from inside the box last season. His movement, as well as technical attributes, are very strong. This is shown when he created 42 chances last season which ranked him in the 93% percentile for strikers, add that to an impressive goal tally the striker is a great addition to The Brewers.
