Coventry City have turned their attention away from signing Huddersfield Town midfielder Jack Rudoni this summer due to his high price tag, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The 22-year-old played an important role for the Terriers last season despite their failure to secure their Championship survival and is now attracting interest from clubs in the second tier but it appears as though Rudoni won’t be making the switch to the Sky Blues.
How did Rudoni fair last season?
Despite Huddersfield’s relegation to League One, Rudoni enjoyed his best goal-contributing season with the Terriers last season. In 35 league appearances, Rudoni contributed to eight goals.
In terms of his in-depth statistics, Rudoni managed a 76.7% passing success rate for the Terriers last season as well as 1.25 successful dribbles and 6.32 duel wins per 90 minutes.
What is Rudoni’s price tag?
Rudoni may have finished as one of Huddersfield’s better performers last season, but the club still suffered a relegation down to League One. However, it appears as though the Terriers are doing everything they can to try and keep him at the club next season.
According to Alan Nixon, Huddersfield have slapped a £10 million price tag on Rudoni’s head as the summer transfer window continues to thrive. This high figure has forced Mark Robins’ Coventry to begin the search for alternative targets ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
Why would the Sky Blues want him?
Coventry City are expected to be in the market for an attacking midfielder with Callum O’Hare set to leave the Sky Blues following the expiry of his contract.
O’Hare has already turned down a previous contract offer and leaves the Sky Blues with Kasey Palmer as their only attacking midfielder heading into the summer window.
Similarly, February 2023 saw Coventry appoint former AFC Wimbledon head of recruitment Jamie Johnson as their new head scout, adding a potential link with Rudoni due to him being a former Wimbledon player.
