Exclusive: Non-League Star Attracting League Two Interest After Bid Rejected - The Deck - Entertainment, Film, Film News

Tamworth midfielder Jamie Jellis is continuing to attract fierce interest from various clubs in League Two and has also been the subject of a failed transfer bid from Barnet, sources have informed Look Sports Media.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a star player for the National League North side, following their promotion last season in which Jellis played an important role as the heartbeat of the side.

Since arriving on a permanent deal from Kings Langley in the summer, Jellis has made 21 league appearances for Tamworth, contributing to three goals so far. Adding to this, the midfielder has only missed one match all season for the National League North side.

The midfielder has experience being involved with an EFL side, having broken onto the professional scene with League One side Stevenage as well as earning a series of first-team minutes whilst out on loan at various Non-League sides.

Since joining Andy Peaks’ team in November 2022 (initially on loan), Jellis helped to guide Tamworth to the 2022/23 Southern League Premier Central title, moving them back into the National League North.

This season, the club have continued to flourish, sitting second in the table and just two points behind a strong Scunthorpe United side who have a considerably bigger budget/resources in comparison to the rest of the division. Tamworth beat Southport 4-0 at the weekend and now sit eight points ahead of third place having won 14 of their 22 matches so far this season.

Reports have already linked Notts County to the midfielder, ahead of the January transfer window but National League side Barnet have had a bid rejected for the 22-year-old as the fierce chase for his signature continues to intensify.

Writer’s View

Jellis is without a doubt one of the finest midfielders in the National League North and it is no surprise that there are a flurry of clubs trying to win the race for his signature.

Tamworth are potentially in line for a major financial boost with this possible departure and based solely on his performances for the club, this is a well-deserved move for the midfielder despite his side facing a double promotion.
