Former Charlton Athletic And Swindon Town Man Targeted By League One Club

League One side Stevenage are targeting a loan move for former Charlton Athletic and Swindon Town goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott.

The 27-year-old is currently at SPFL side Hibernian after joining in June 2023 for an undisclosed fee.

Alex Revell’s side are hopeful that they can convince the talented goalkeeper to return to the EFL should they be able to agree a wage structure, according to Alan Nixon.

The Ghana international was one of several players who departed Swindon Town at the end of the 2022 season following their play-off defeat to Port Vale to link up with Ben Garner at Charlton Athletic. However, his stay with the Addicks was short lived as he left to join Hibernian just a year later on a three year contract.

He has also had spells at Bristol City, Clevedon Town, Weymouth, Bergsoy, Bath City, Woking , Truro City, Gloucester City and Forest Green Rovers.

A good deal for Stevenage?

Since joining Hibs, Wollacott has only made eight appearances after suffering a thigh problem early into the season then having to accept a place on the bench.

After his season at the County Ground, it seemed his career trajectory was up, but it appears the move to Charlton was not right for his career. He soon found Ben Garner gone then just wasn’t fancied by Michael Appleton.

His potential is there, as is his experience in the lower leagues and should Stevenage be able to pick up another former Swindon Town star and allow them the platform to perform in the third tier, Alex Revell may be about to secure a gem for his side.

If he is free to leave, it would not surprise me if there were other suitors. The goalkeeper market is difficult and the chance to sign one who performed so well in League Two so recently could be too good an opportunity for some to turn down.
