Former Huddersfield Town Boss Blocked From Joining New Club

Former Huddersfield Town boss and current West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan has been blocked from moving to UD Las Palmas, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Championship boss has been linked to a host of clubs in recent weeks including Leicester City and Las Palmas, however, the Baggies are now keen to keep hold of the 41-year-old and block any move for him.

West Bromwich Albion currently hold a contract with Corberan until the Summer of 2027, which includes a €2.5m release clause according to Marca (however this is contrary to previous reports that had stated a £3.5-4 million fee). However, their Spanish counterparts are unwilling to pay anything towards securing a new manager, the Baggies have firmly blocked the move.

Corberan Attracting Interest

The amount of interest the manager is receiving this summer clearly demonstrates how well thought of he is in the game at this time.  The Spaniard has exceeded expectations in difficult circumstances, achieving a 5th-place finish and a spot in the play-offs despite being unable to spend in the transfer market. With the transfer window now open it is clear that West Brom will be looking ahead to next season, with their current manager at the helm. Players who may be interested in joining or remaining at the club will want to know he is still there to continue the stellar work he has already achieved.

Although there is some discrepancy in the amount being demanded by WBA, the fact still remains that if Las Palmas are unwilling to pay anything, they will have to look elsewhere. Leicester City on the other hand have seemingly moved on to Graham Potter, having been linked to a whole host of targets in recent weeks. Corberan and his current side will likely be relieved when the speculation dies down and they can continue to focus on the job at hand.
