Hull City are currently amidst an ongoing battle to avoid relegation from the Championship and have identified a potential new recruit to help improve the side’s attacking outlets.

Ruben Selles’ side currently find themselves 22nd in the Championship, one point off safety and have won just five league games all season.

The side have also won just one of their last five league games and face an uphill battle to stay in the division.

After already trying and failing with an earlier bid, journalist Pete O’Rourke has confirmed that Hull City have made a fresh £2 million bid to sign Blackpool striker Kyle Joseph.

How has he fared this season?

The 23-year-old joined Blackpool at the start of the 2023/24 campaign but initially struggled to score in the league, having contributed to six goals in 30 appearances but only one of those was a goal.

Fast forward to the current campaign and Joseph’s attacking numbers have significantly improved with the League One side, contributing 11 goals in his first 24 appearances in the third tier.

He recently scored a 93rd minute equaliser against title chasing Wycombe Wanderers during his previous outing and averaged a match rating of 7.6.

Why are Hull chasing the forward?

Currently, Hull City are averaging less than a goal every 90 minutes in the Championship this season and that needs to improve if they are going to try and ensure their survival.

In terms of the January transfer window, sides around Hull have already strengthened and that will force the Tigers to follow suit with further additions.

Joe Gelhardt has already joined the club on loan from Leeds United to help add goals in the final third, but in competition to Joseph – his numbers aren’t as good.

Joseph has taken League One by storm at time this season and a fee like that would be a tough one to turn down, but there’s no guarantees that he would deliver the number of goals that Hull likely need to pull away from a relegation scrap.
