Scottish giants Celtic hold a genuine interest in signing Coventry City playmaker Callum O’Hare this summer, according to a report via Football Scotland.
The 25-year-old is set to leave the Sky Blues this summer after rejecting a new contract, but the reigning Scottish champions face a tough battle in their pursuit to land the midfielder.
Who is interested?
According to Football Scotland, Celtic’s previously reported interest is genuine and they want to bring the midfielder to Celtic Park this summer due to him being available on a free transfer.
However, they face strong competition from several Premier League sides as well as Championship promotion challengers Leicester City and Southampton.
The Foxes are currently under a transfer embargo which would create difficulty in trying to sign O’Hare, but Football Scotland have confirmed that the players agent has already received numerous contract proposals.
How has he faired so far this season?
After returning from his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury towards the end of 2023, O’Hare has featured 32 times for the Sky Blues in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing a handful of assists.
This included a brace during a 3-1 victory against rivals Leicester City in January as well as creating the winning goal in Coventry’s FA Cup quarter-final victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers to send the Sky Blues back to Wembley.
In recent weeks, the midfielder has been battling with Kasey Palmer for a starting spot at the Championship side as Mark Robins begins to plan for life without the playmaker next season.
Wembley on the horizon
The Sky Blues will return to Wembley for the fourth time since 2017 this weekend as they face Premier League giants Manchester United for a place in the 2023/24 FA Cup final.
Coventry beat Oxford United 2-1 in the 2017 EFL Trophy final, before beating Exeter City 3-1 in the League Two play-off final a year later.
However, the Sky Blues lost on penalties in the Championship play-off final last season to Luton Town.
Will O’Hare end up at Celtic Park this summer and end his time at Coventry City on a high?
