WWE to See Renowned Seven-Time Champion Return for Netflix Premiere?

WWE

A seven-time champion is tipped to make her return to WWE when the company makes its debut on the streaming platform Netflix in January.

Netflix has been the main topic in sports streaming and made its mark this past weekend by broadcasting Jake Paul’s exhibition bout with legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

They will continue their entry into sports broadcasting with Christmas Day coverage of NFL champions Kansas City Chiefs meeting with Pittsburgh Steelers. They also begin weekly coverage of WWE programming from 2025 onwards.

When Raw heads to the streaming giant, there are talks of who could be present, with John Cena already confirmed for the premiere ahead of his retirement next year, but there is one big name who has not been seen on WWE programming for some time now.

Becky Lynch to return for WWE’s Netflix premiere?

One of the biggest names in the women’s division, Becky Lynch, has not been seen since the May 27th episode of Raw, where she failed to recapture her title from current champion Liv Morgan. Lynch’s contract ran out a month later in June; recent events may indicate that she agreed to a new contract with the company after she was included on a list of superstars requested for IP usage by global athletic companies.

The Man is set to make a public appearance this weekend at Vulture Festival, meaning the announcement could be imminent given that we are two months away from the move to the streaming service. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson has reported that WWE sources are confident the 37-year-old will be back in time for January 6th’s Monday Night Raw.

WWE is not concerned with Netflix issues.

This past weekend saw the highly anticipated boxing matchup between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. While many looked forward to the event, some ended up missing out entirely as the platform was plagued with multiple issues during its runtime, including buffering issues and even complete freezes of the stream. With 60 million households attempting to stream the fight, it was a worrying sign for a service that will soon be broadcasting like this on a regular basis.

Fightful Select has reported that WWE officials have been assured that these issues will not occur with their programming. Even though it is a globally recognised company, it is just hard to see them draw in a viewership number of that magnitude, even if they are promising viewers the biggest Raw in history.

A former ally could join Lynch in WWE return.

It did not seem to be much concern that the Scottish superstar had not returned to the company immediately after it was revealed she would take some time to enjoy family life. Lynch’s husband, Seth Rollins, has been absent throughout this year after wrestling through an injury at the start of the year.

However, the 37-year-old could be set to return alongside not only one of her close friends but her greatest rival, Charlotte Flair.

Flair has also been absent for some time now, with her last match coming in December 2023 against Asuka, and she has been recovering from an ACL, MCL and meniscus injury since. She was expected to return at SummerSlam this year, but it did not happen, and a date is still unknown.

As the most decorated woman on the roster, it would be a no-brainer to think that Flair’s return was planned to line up with Raw’s Netflix debut. After the unveiling of the United States Women’s Championship, to have these two revive one of their classic feuds to be the first champion could only be a massive boost to ratings.
