Championship side Swansea City are attempting to get ahead of league rivals Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End to secure the signing of 22-year-old defender Joe Low from League One Wycombe Wanderers.
The League One promotion hopefuls have been rocked by the news that manager Matt Bloomfield is set to leave the club to Championship side Luton Town. But could now face a second loss of the window with Joe Low the subject of a second-tier tug-of-war.
Swansea City have already reportedly seen two bids of £500,000 and £600,000 knocked back by the Chairboys, with the club now prepared for a third attempt and/or for other clubs to try their hand according to Football Insider.
Bloomfield News Could Change January Plans
There will be several players in the Wycombe Wanderers squad now, considering their future at the club. Whilst they still have a good opportunity to achieve promotion, there is no guarantee that the new manager coming in will be able to replicate the success of Bloomfield.
Whilst their stock is high, agents and players could be tempted to explore options in the second tier this January rather than risk missing out all together.
The Chairboys will now have a difficult task to convince them to stay.
Low’s Interest
It has also been suggested that Low is willing to move on to the Championship this window and with three clubs already linked and bids having already been submitted. It is likely that this noise will alert more clubs to his availability.
There will be several Championship managers looking to utilise the confusion left by Bloomfield’s departure to poach talent. Whilst the departing man himself may look at bringing a player or two with him to Luton Town this window to help him settle in quickly.
This has now turned into a make or break season for the Chairboys.
