Three Players Could Return Bayern Munich To Title Winners – Opinion

Bayern Munich

European giants Bayern Munich have appointed Burnley manager Vincent Kompany in an attempt to return to winning major honours.

Bayern Munich lost their streak of eleven consecutive Bundesliga titles to the invincible champions Bayer Leverkusen, managed by Xabi Alonso and this season was the club’s first trophyless season since the 2011–12 season, under the management of Jupp Heynckes.

The club needs to bring in some new faces to revitalise the squad and allow the football club to start winning trophies again.

Analysing What Bayern Need This Summer

There is a lot of quality already existing within that squad and with the Michael Olise deal already agreed in principle, according to Fabrizio Romano, there’s additional quality set to be added to the existing squad.

The club, in my opinion, needs a versatile attacking talent, an experienced defender and a terrier of a central midfielder to add some bite and bark as well as some physical prowess in the middle of the pitch.

So without further ado, let’s analyse three players who could potentially give Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich a return to winning some major trophies.

Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen – CB) – Permanent Deal

An experienced central defender added to the defensive roster in Munich adds real tenacity, drive, leadership and physicality and including a winning talent who has a previous history of achieving trophies and major honours into that squad raises the standards even more of what the club must achieve.

Leverkusen’s kingpin defender, Jonathan Tah, who has just completed a nearly invincible season with Xabi Alonso’s side, is the perfect investment in that department and with Fabrizio Romano saying that the priority is reportedly still currently Bayern Munich, that makes him top of the list for defensive transfer targets.

He’s usually very adaptable in back four and back three defensive systems, so it makes him very useful when it comes to Vincent Kompany’s tactical adaptability.

He’s an extremely physical centre-back, very dominant in aerial duels and aerial opportunities, both defensively and in the attack and he’s confident and composed on and off the ball, making him, in my opinion, one of the world’s best centre-backs currently.

João Palhinha (Fulham – CDM/CM) – Permanent Deal

A physical and aggressive midfielder adds some real bite to the squad and Bayern Munich need that rabid wolf-like player that will pounce to win the ball back using his strength, his football intelligence and also his energy in transition.

These types of midfielders also need to have true leadership qualities and must be full of passion to raise the noise of supporters and inspire their teammates in tough situations.

One player who ticks most of the boxes necessary for a rabid ball-winning midfielder is Fulham’s João Palhinha, who statistically, is an exceptional interceptor of the ball.

He ranks amongst the Premier League’s top 10 interceptors with 46 during the 2023-24 season and he’s also demonstrates an incredible reading and understanding of the game, becoming a physical and aggressive presence with the beating heart of a passionate midfielder hell-bent on achieving success, which is exactly what Bayern Munich need when it comes to competition for places and players that want to fight for their place to start games in the Bayern Munich colours.

According to Fabrizio Romano, “Palhinha has agreed on five-year deal with Bayern and wants Fulham to let him leave after deal collapsed last summer”, so I’m personally very excited that this deal looks set to potentially happen this summer.

Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig – CAM/LW/RW) – Permanent Deal

The club needs a versatile attacking talent and with the addition of Crystal Palace prospect Michael Olise looking increasingly likely, the addition of a player who can play on the left-hand side and demonstrates excellent quality is needed at the Allianz Arena.

One player who ticks those boxes is Leipzig’s Spanish-born attacking talent Dani Olmo.

An exceptional player who produces an effective passing game and quick attacking play with composed finishing. He’s also adaptable in the number 10 role and is a consistent performer. Fabrizio Romano reports that his €60m release clause is valid until July 15th, so if Bayern Munich want to push for this deal to be accepted, they must be quickly rushing to secure this transfer.

Bayern supporters, would you be excited by any of these players if they were to sign during this year’s summer transfer window?
