Wrexham are preparing for life in the Championship following their remarkable rise from the National League under Phil Parkinson.

The Welsh side have been ambitious in the transfer window, targeting a host of Premier League and second tier players.

They have already swooped to secure Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest, Josh Windass from Sheffield Wednesday and Ryan Hardie from Plymouth amongst others.

However, it is clear that their activity is not close to completion yet. After being linked to Christian Eriksen, Jamie Vardy, Johnny Evans and more Phil Parkinson’s squad could find itself bolstered with an England international.

Leicester City Receive £2million Transfer Bid for Conor Coady from Wrexham

Wrexham have reportedly submitted a bid in the region of £2million for former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton and Huddersfield Town man Conor Coady. The defender is currently on the books of Leicester City and only has a year left on his deal.

This is according to transfer expert Pete O’Rourke, however it is not yet clear if the bid will be enough to secure his services.

Conor Coady, Experienced EFL and Premier League Player

The 32-year-old has over 500 appearances to date in his career, including almost 200 in the Premier League and just under 180 in the Championship. The majority of his footballing time has come from his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he appeared 317 times.

The experienced defender also made his England debut in 2020, before going on to pick up ten caps, and scoring once against Wales.

Coady has also picked up two Championship winners medals, one with Leicester City (23/24) and the other with Wolves (17/18).

He is the profile of player that, just a few short years ago Wrexham fans would have dreamed of signing. However, their remarkable rise has now put them as a realistic destination for Premier League proven stars.
