Wrexham are continuing their string of outgoings in the final week of the January window, with the club now challenging for the Championship play-offs and expectations constantly evolving under Ryan Reynold’s stewardship.

Club legend, Paul Mullin, had lost his place in the squad last season and has fallen further down the pecking order amid the arrivals of Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore.

The striker spent the opening months of the campaign on loan at Wigan Athletic and was recalled in recent weeks after returning five goals in 26 appearances for the club.

Now, the striker looks set to join his second League One club of the season, with a deal now agreed.

Paul Mullin Set for League One Promotion Hopefuls

According to reports from Pete O’Rourke, Mullin is set to join Bradford City on loan for the remainder of the season following successful negotiations between the two clubs.

Bradford have enjoyed an excellent first half of the campaign, despite tailing off in recent weeks. Newly-promoted, the West Yorkshire outfit currently sit fifth in the division but have struggled in Will Swan’s recent absence, and need reinforcements up front after club legend, Andy Cook, left to join Grimsby Town on loan.

Appearing short of striking options, a move for Mullin makes perfect sense. The striker has always thrived on a crowd and is best played on the shoulder of a defender, with relentless running and clinical finishing.

If the likes of Bobby Pointon, Josh Neufville, and Ibou Touray can accommodate his strengths, there is no reason that the 31-year-old can’t be the answer to Wrexham’s problems in the latter half of the season.

The Bantams need a rejuvenation at the sharp end of the pitch, and the profile of Paul Mullin could be just that.

What This Means for Wrexham

As previously mentioned, the demands at Wrexham are ever-evolving, given the club’s three consecutive promotions, meaning Mullin’s place in Parkinson’s matchday squad is effectively gone.

The case has been similar for many players, with summer signing Ryan Hardie now looking set to pen a deal with Bolton Wanderers, according to reports.

It will be interesting to see if Wrexham are to invest in the remaining days of the transfer window or if the focus will remain on outgoings, given the club’s constant growth.

The likes of Conor Coady, Lewis Brunt, and Jay Rodriguez currently appear to be surplus at the club, so there are plenty of moves that could take place in North Wales before the transfer deadline.
