Arsenal Have To Pay The Price In Striker Hunt

Published

on

Arsenal have been told to break the bank to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer, as reported by TEAMtalk.

The Gunners have two big games coming up as they approach the end of the season. Mikel Arteta’s side are one point clear of his former mentor Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but their rivals have a game in hand over them. Defeat at Old Trafford this Sunday could seal their fate of losing the league title in a second consecutive season. There is a bitter-sweet irony as both title competitors will be looking for fierce rivals to do them a favour as City travel to North London to take on Tottenham.

No matter what the outcome of this season, the club will be looking to strengthen in the summer transfer window, with Edu and Arteta having identified the positions in need of strengthening for the side. One position that is often discussed for the team is the centre-forward position. With plenty of top strikers linked, the Gunners have been told to pay the fee of £100 million for Newcastle’s Swedish forward Alexander Isak.

What positions will Arsenal look to strengthen?

One of the primary positions will be the striker position for Arteta’s side, but it is a question of whether the club need to add a striker in the summer. The side has identified three key areas in need of strengthening this summer. These are the left-back, midfield and striker positions.

However, they do have options in those areas. Jakub Kiwior has impressed as a left-back this campaign, while Kai Havertz is capable of playing in midfield or as a number nine. The German has featured across three different positions this season and is one of the three players to reach double figures in terms of goalscoring for the club, alongside Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.

The striker question does still need an answer at the Emirates, but given they are the league’s top scorers with three players in double digits, it could perhaps not need an answer so soon.

Newcastle could be forced to sell this summer.

The Magpies face the prospect of losing one, if not more, of their star players this summer. Bruno Guimaraes is another name persistently linked with a move away, and he was another name the Gunners were linked with recently in a club-record move that would see him partner Declan Rice in midfield.

It is hard to see both players heading to Arsenal in the summer transfer window, especially as they are both expected to command fees around the £100 million mark.

Newcastle have said that they would have to sell players to ensure the club continues to develop the way it has recently. One of the Gunners’ targets are the most likely to leave, you would imagine, and the Magpies missing out on the Champions League would most likely see exits materialise.

Departures are imminent for Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s side will most likely see numerous departures this summer if they are to get their way. One name many hope to see leave is Aaron Ramsdale, who has lost his place to David Raya following his loan spell from Brentford, which will become permanent this summer.

The futures of Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey are also in doubt, with the latter being offered to clubs before his contract expires next year. Eddie Nketiah has been placed up for sale and is free to leave if a suitable offer comes in for the 24-year-old. Ipswich Town have been linked with a move for the striker in a signing they look to make a statement with upon their arrival in the Premier League.
