Birmingham City

Birmingham City have reportedly opened talks to sign Plymouth Argyle defender Dan Scarr on a permanent contract this summer as their preparations for the 2024/25 League One season continue.

The 29-year-old is currently under contract at Home Park although his deal is set to end at the end of the 2024/25 season, which is likely to lower his price tag as the Blues open talks over a potential summer move.

How did Scarr fair last season?

Scarr made 31 appearances in all competitions for Plymouth Argyle last season as the club confirmed their safety on the final day during their debut campaign in the Championship, following a victory against play-off chasing Hull City.

During this time, the defender scored once with his strike coming against Norwich City during an impressive 6-2 victory back in September.

In terms of Scarr’s in-depth statistics, he managed a pass completion rate of 82% for the Pilgrims as well as 4.6 clearances and 3.9 ball recoveries per 90 minutes and helped to provide six clean sheets.

Adding promotion experience to Birmingham

Scarr signed for the Pilgrims from League Two side Walsall in July 2021 and played a crucial role in helping to secure the League One title during the 2022/23 campaign, fending off a strong challenge from now-Premier League side Ipswich Town.

With Marc Roberts leaving Birmingham following the expiry of his contract, the arrival of Scarr in accordance to a report from Football Insider, would bolster the club’s defensive options ahead of the new season, whilst also adding title-winning experience.

Busy busy at the Blues

Dan Scarr has become the latest player to be linked with a move to St. Andrews ahead of the 2024/25 League One season.

Hull City goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has already signed for the club for an undisclosed fee, whilst Brighton’s Marc Leonard, Burnley’s Scott Twine and Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski have all been linked with potential moves to the football club.

The Blues suffered relegation down to League One last season as a direct result of Plymouth’s victory against Hull but could Scarr be about to swap Home Park for St. Andrews?
