One Return, One Absence As Chesterfield Prepare For Title Clash - The Deck - Entertainment, Film, Film News

Chesterfield are set to welcome back one player from injury but will be without another ahead of their top-of-the-table clash against Barnet on Saturday afternoon, according to the Derbyshire Times.

Forward Joe Quigley has been out of action for a month following an ankle injury, but he is back and available for this weekend’s match. Meanwhile, Chesterfield will be without defender Tyrone Williams after sustaining a thigh injury during their clash with Kidderminster Harriers two weeks ago.

The Spireites return to National League action this weekend following their FA Cup triumph against League One leaders Portsmouth last week but face a very difficult challenge against fellow runaway leaders Barnet.

Beginning with the negative, the 29-year-old has been an important part of Chesterfield’s defensive line so far this season scoring twice in 12 league appearances but is expected to miss the club’s next few games.

Coach Danny Webb remained tight-lipped about the length of the injury by stating…

“You know I like my couple of weeks shout with injuries so we’ll stick with a couple of weeks.”

Elsewhere, the club have received a boost with Joe Quigley’s return into the final third. The forward has scored five goals so far this season including two goals in his last two matches before suffering his ankle injury.

Also speaking to the Derbyshire Times, coach Danny Webb stated…

“Joe Quigley is back in training so he is available for selection,”

The Spireites haven’t lost a league match since their 2-1 loss to Altrincham at the end of August, meaning they are currently unbeaten in their previous 12 league games and remain with just one loss in all competitions so far.

Writer’s View

Despite losing Williams, Chesterfield will be heading into their match against Barnet as favourites due to having the league advantage and their longer unbeaten run.

However, Barnet beat Chesterfield 3-0 in the reverse fixture last season with Nicke Kabamba grabbing a hat-trick and he will be hopeful of causing an upset this weekend.
