Two In, One Out As Leicester City Prepare For Premier League Return

Leicester City are expected to confirm the retainment of two players, whilst ‘seriously considering’ offloading midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.

The Foxes clinched the Championship title last night, following their 3-0 victory against Preston North End but have their work cut out if they are going to avoid an upcoming EFL deadline and subsequent punishment in the coming weeks.

Who is sticking around?

According to Rob Dorsett, Leicester City icon Jamie Vardy is expected to sign a one-year contract extension with the soon-to-be Premier League side, whilst loanee Abdul Fatawu is set to complete a permanent move to the King Power stadium, in a deal worth £14.5 million.

Vardy rolled back the years for his beloved Leicester this season, scoring 18 goals in 34 matches, including a brace to secure the title for the Foxes last night. Despite being 37, he has averaged 22 goal contributions in 36 matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Fatawu is on loan at Leicester City from Portuguese giants Sporting CP and has contributed to 19 goals in 39 league appearances as well as one in three cup matches for the Foxes this season.

Big departure likely

It has also been reported by Dorsett that Leicester City are ‘seriously considering selling’ midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer in order to avoid being sanctioned by the EFL.

Enzo Maresca’s men have until June 30th to raise a certain amount of money in order to avoid further punishment for breaching financial regulations and one way to avoid this is by offloading Dewsbury-Hall, who has already been the subject of interest from multiple Premier League sides.

One season out

Leicester City can now begin to prepare for life back in the Premier League this summer, following their promotion from the second-tier. Despite losing a significant points advantage, the Foxes regrouped and clawed themselves over the line and could still finish the campaign on 100 points.

Despite facing a strong possibility of selling Dewsbury-Hall, Leicester have already begun planning for life in the top tier with hopes of avoiding an immediate return back to the Championship next season.
