Update Emerges On The Future Of Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’ & ‘Wonder Man’

Marvel Studios are still set to release projects Ironheart and Wonder Man, despite the studios’ change in approach and cancellation of upcoming projects, according to Brad Winderbaum in quotes from Agents of Fandom.

The MCU and Disney have been undergoing somewhat of a shake up in their approach. Disappointing returns for films such as The Marvels has led to a focus on quality over quantity. For a period, to help with the promotion of Disney+, Marvel green-lit a huge slate of projects including She-Hulk, Wanda-Vision, Loki, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and more, however many did not land the way they had hoped. For every run-away success there was another gaining mass criticism, with some feeling the magic had been somewhat reduced.

For a casual fan to understand an upcoming show, rather than just being able to sit and enjoy it, they would have to watch and remember what happened across several over films and TV shows. Disney’s Bob Iger recently revealed that the House of Mouse had cancelled many projects that they hadn’t informed the public of yet, with many speculating about upcoming projects from newer heros such as Ironheart and Wonder Man. The Hollywood Reporter even shared an update in September 2023, claiming that the projects had been completely removed from the Marvel slate.

What did Marvel’s Head of TV, Streaming and Animation say?

Speaking to Agents of Fandom, Winderbaum confirmed that these projects were still slated to be released and were undergoing post-production having completed filming.

“Yeah, absolutely. We’re editing both of those shows as we speak. They’re spectacular, they’re amazing, and they’re different…We’re able to explore corners of the universe that are really exciting. Riri Williams is one of them and I cannot wait for people to meet Simon Williams.”

Riri Williams, the main character of the Ironheart series has already made an appearance in the Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever. The performance of star Dominique Thorne garnered praise from fans as she shared the screen with the Wakandan royalty.

Wonder Man, an entirely new character to the MCU is set to be played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton set to direct. However, at this stage very little is known about the project.
